With the renovation of the Marshall High School gymnasium complete- except for some minor cosmetic work– the Marshall Booster Club made a recommendation to the Marshall School Board to name the court in honor of a beloved teacher, administrator and coach who was in the district for three decades.
At the school board meeting on Tuesday, August 21, Booster Club Vice President Jeremy Gochenour read off how the late Kevin Hart came to Marshall and played college basketball at Missouri Valley. He stayed here to become a teacher, coach and administrator in the Marshall Public School District, eventually head-coaching the Owls’ boys’ varsity basketball team for 11 years with a lot of success.

Gochenour asked the board’s approval to name the court in memory of Hart.

Without hesitation, the board approved the request.
