A Saline County village has two events scheduled during the Labor Day weekend on Saturday, September 1.
According to a news release, the Friends of Arrow Rock are scheduled to hosts its First Saturday Lecture as professional metal detectors, Chadwick and Jackalyn Oldham, are this month’s presenters with the free program scheduled at 10 a.m. at the visitor center. The Oldhams are passionate about their search for historic artifacts and turn over all items they find to the property owner.
During their program, they’ll show off photos of their favorite finds from previous digs in Arrow Rock and other places. After a brief presentation, they’ll lead attendees to nearby properties for demonstrations with cutting-edge metal detecting equipment.
At 2 p.m., the village is scheduled to hosts its annual Ice Cream Freeze-Off. This event takes place on the lawn of the J. Huston Tavern at the corner of Fourth and Main Streets. A $5 admission buys you the opportunity to sample ice cream entries and vote for your favorite.
Proceeds from this event benefit the Experience Arrow Rock tourism committee.
