A Saline County family was honored during the 60th annual Missouri Farm Family Day held at the State Fairgrounds in Sedalia on August 13.
According to a new release, Donald and Michelle Boland and family, of Sweet Springs, were selected as the Saline County Missouri Farm Family by University of Missouri Extension in Saline County and the local Farm Bureau. The family includes their children, Bailey and Brock Boland.
Each year during the fair, a day is scheduled to recognize farm families from across the state that are active in their communities, involved in agriculture, and/or participate in local outreach and extension programs such as 4-H or FFA.
The Boland family operates a 500-acre row-crop operation as they harvest soybeans, corn and wheat. Their farm also hosts a variety of interest and animals. Donald raises beef cattle, Bailey and Brock show horses, Bailey also raises and shows swine, and Brock also raises chickens for show and eggs.
This year, all counties in Missouri were represented with nearly 490 people from 115 farm families being honored.
