A Sedalia resident was seriously injured in a rollover traffic accident in Johnson County on Sunday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as the driver of a westbound vehicle, 42-year-old Keith D. Hawkins, reportedly attempted to avoid a vehicle pulling into a gas station and overcorrect. Hawkins’ vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, overturn multiple times and came to a rest on its top in the median crossover.
Hawkins reportedly sustained serious injures and passenger, 16-year-old Keith Hawkins Jr., sustained moderate injures. Both were transported to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for treatment of injuries.
The accident happened just after 10:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 50 at Blackwater Bottoms.
