A Marshall man has been formally charged with drug-related felonies after a traffic stop earlier this year in Saline County.
A probable-cause statements says Marshall Police officers reportedly observed a narcotic transaction at a skate park, and then conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle at a nearby intersection on June 7.
During the stop, officers found an undisclosed amount of marijuana and one clonazepam pill, which is a controlled prescription medication. Officers arrested 20-year-old Leland Minnis, who reportedly admitted a back pack containing the marijuana and controlled medication was his.
Online court documents say Minnis has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; a Class E Felony for Delivery of 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoid; and a misdemeanor drug charge. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash only.
Minnis appeared via video for his arraignment hearing on August 24, and his cause was continued for a counsel-status hearing at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, at Saline County Circuit Court.
