A Marshall man has been charged with felonies for two reported incidents of domestic assault which occurred earlier this month in Saline County.
A probable-cause statement says on August 8, the Marshall Police Department received a report of a domestic assault at a parking lot in the 1500 block of Commercial Drive. Officers spoke with the victim who stated she was assaulted by 33-year-old Ray Edward Grapes. The victim said Grapes charged at her, slammed her to the ground and punched her in the chest area, where she sustained head and wrist injures. The officer reportedly viewed a video of the assault which was captured on the victim’s cell phone.
Marshall Police officers responded to another domestic assault incident which occurred the victim’s residence on August 26. Grapes reportedly struck the victim’s injured wrist and choked the victim with one of his hands during an argument.
Online court documents say Grapes has been charged with a Class D Felony for Second-Degree Domestic Assault and a Class E Felony for Third-Degree Domestic Assault. Bond has been set at $15,000 cash only.
Grapes’ initial hearing is pending at Saline County Circuit Court.
