The MMU Board of Public Works discussed its 2018-19 Budget during its meeting on Thursday, August 30.
Administrative Services Director Ken Gieringer said a workshop with the city council was recently held which began the initial discussion about MMU’s budget and a potential 10-percent increase in water rates.
General Manager Kyle Gibbs explains why the proposed increase in water rates is included in the budget.

Gibbs said predicting the yearly budget is tricky due to several unknown factors.

After discussion, the board approved to recommend the mayor sign the 2018-19 MMU Budget, which does not include the water-rate increase, during a future city council meeting.
