Some law-enforcement personnel in the area are going to be getting a bump in their salary without the help of grant money.
Saline County Sheriff Cindi Mullins was at the meeting of the county commission on Thursday, August 30, and said the deputies in her department are very appreciative of steps taken — including voters approving a one-eighth cent sales-tax measure– to improve their pay.

Northern District Commissioner Richard Clemens said it is important because these people put themselves on the line for others.

Mullins said the county had received the grant to help supplement the pay for deputies for the past six years.
Commissioners approved the raise in pay, which Mullins said will go into effect on September 3.
