A Keytesville man has been formally charged with a felony for an alleged incident of domestic assault earlier this year in Randolph County.
A probable-cause statement says Moberly Police officers responded to a report of an alleged domestic assault occurring in a motor vehicle in the 1200 block of Fisk Avenue on August 30. Officers spoke with a witness who stated the driver of the vehicle, later identified as 38-year-old Nicholas Wayne Pope, reportedly struck a female passenger several times in the facial area while operating the vehicle in a careless manner. Other witnesses came forward and detailed what they saw during the alleged domestic assault.
Officers reportedly noticed Pope’s vehicle to be unoccupied and contained several empty alcohol containers. Later, officers made contact with Pope who reportedly was noticed to under the influence of a substance due to his erratic walking and uncooperative nature.
Online court documents say Pope has been charged with a Class E Felony for Third-Degree Domestic Assault. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash only.
Pope’s initial hearing at Randolph County Circuit Court is pending.
