A Nelson woman who allegedly was in possession of illegal drug-related substances during a consented search of a vehicle after a traffic stop on August 30 and on her person as she entered a justice facility has been charged with felonies in Cooper County.
A probable-cause statement says authorities found a dollar bill folded up that contained methamphetamine inside a wallet in a purse. The woman reportedly was asked by two officers if she had any other contraband on her at the scene, and she replied “no.” Once at the Cooper County Detention Center, the woman reportedly admitted to having contraband on her. Authorities found a canister containing more methamphetamine on her.
According to online court documents, 34-year-old Adea Kamarita King, a passenger in the vehicle, has been charged with Class D Felonies for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana and Delivery or Possession of a Controlled Substance at a County Jail. Bond has been fixed at $7,500 cash or surety.
King’s initial hearing at Cooper County Circuit Court is pending.
