A Keytesville man has been charged with a felony for an alleged domestic assault incident last month in Chariton County.
A probable-cause statement says a victim told authorities she allegedly was assaulted by 59-year-old Larry R. Hayes on August 28. The victim said she was traveling with Hayes in a vehicle, where he reportedly stopped on a gravel road and pulled her out of the vehicle. The victim added Hayes hit her head with a rock three times, kicked her several times, held a pocket knife to her throat and threatened to kill her. Law enforcement noticed the victim had sustained several bruises on her body and a cut on her neck.
Online court documents say Hayes has been charged with a Class B Felony for Domestic Assault in the First Degree. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash only.
Hayes appeared for his arraignment hearing and entered a plea of not guilty on September 11, and his caused was continued with a case-hearing at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, at the Chariton County Circuit Court.
