There will be a lot of construction work going on in an area school district starting next spring.
Carrollton R-7 Superintendent Dr. Jon Oetinger says the school board approved a long-range facilities plan during a recent meeting, and ground-breaking on Phase 1 of the longterm project is coming up. He said right now, all of the students from second-graders through seniors eat in one cafeteria.
Dr. Oetinger says the second part of Phase 1 involves security at the high school and elementary school, which will take a renovation of the office complex.
Dr. Oetinger says there also will be improvements made with HVAC and air quality at the career center. He said some work will start before school is out in May. He said the idea is to have everything that’s part of Phase 1 to be finished and ready to go by the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year next August.
Dr. Oetinger also said something similar is planned for the elementary school the next year; and the third part of Phase 1 is to put an all-weather track and other amenities such as a concession stand, bleachers, etc., on the east side of the main campus.
