A Malta Bend resident has been charged with felonies for allegedly shooting from a vehicle and in the direction of another vehicle in Saline County on Thursday, September 13.
A probable-cause statement says Saline County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of shots being fired in the 10000 block of 280th Lane. While en route, deputies spotted the suspect’s vehicle parked in a bean field on the east side of 280th Lane. 31-year-old Damien Gordillo was apprehended after deputies found two different AR-type rifles with ammunition, as well as two BB guns, inside his vehicle. Deputies reportedly detected the odor of an intoxicant emanating from Gordillo’s person.
The victims reported Gordillo started to shoot from his vehicle in the direction of their vehicle about 10-15 times on two separate occasions. No injuries were reported.
Online court documents say Gordillo has been charged with a Class B Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Shooting at a Person from a Vehicle and a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon-Having a Loaded Weapon while Intoxicated. Bond was set at $25,000 cash only.
Gordillo’s initial hearing is pending at Saline County Circuit Court.
