An ongoing roadwork project is scheduled to continue this week in Cooper County.
According to MoDOT, bridge replacement is underway on Highway 87 over I-70. The bridge is closed, but all exit and entrance ramps connecting to I-70 remain open. Grading operations, base-rock installation, the resurfacing of Highway 87 and the westbound entrance and exit ramps, as well as culvert extension work will continue this week.
Also continuing this week, Steven Kole Court will be closed to traffic due to work south of I-70, where motorists will be detoured over a temporary bypass to Klinton Drive.
On Thursday, September 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Nancy Potter Road will be closed for culvert pipe replacement, and motorists are advised to seek an alternate route around the work area. Beginning on Sunday, September 23, the eastbound I-70 entrance and exit ramps and the south portion of Highway 87 are scheduled to be closed for approximately two weeks, as the ramps and roadway are tied into the new bridge.
Occasional overnight lane closures are possible on I-70 for construction of the new bridge, and the project scheduled for completion by sometime in November.
All work is weather permitting.
