An action was taken by the Marshall School Board involving a building on the campus formerly known as the Marshall Habilitation Center during its meeting on Tuesday, September 25.
According to minutes from the meeting, the board discussed the possibility of advancing to the design phase for an addition to the Spainhower building. The administration would like to make Spainhower an Early Childhood Center, housing Pre-K through first-grade students.
This would be approximately 28 classrooms, and will get kindergarten students out of trailers.
The Alternative and TLC programs would be moved to an alternative site in the district- possibly a vacant elementary school.
Earlier in the meeting, Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher pointed out the cost vs. value of the Hab Center property is approximately $6.260 million for repairs, renovation and the addition to Spainhower; and the immediate value added to the district is approximately $12.5 million.
The board voted unanimously to move on to the design phase, which includes the HVAC system.
