A Warrensburg man has been charged with a felony after he reportedly tried to elude law enforcement recently in Pettis County.
According to a probable-cause statement, Pettis County deputies responded to a report of a male subject who appeared to be unconscious in a vehicle and was parked on the wrong side of the road on Route B near Green Ridge on September 28. While responding to the area, deputies were informed that the male subject had woke up and sped away from the scene, where the suspect struck a vehicle which was parked nearby.
Deputies reportedly contacted the suspect’s vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop which had negative results. Deputies reportedly stated the driver would slow down and then excellerate up to 80 miles per hour during the pursuit, but the vehicle was eventually disabled after the use of Stop Sticks by law enforcement on Missouri Highway 52. Deputies reportedly noticed the strong odor of alcohol emanating from the driver, 21-year-old Collin Subbert. Subbert reportedly was driving a vehicle that was not his.
Online court documents say Subbert has been charged with a Class D Felony for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree, and misdemeanors for leaving the scene of an accident, fouth-degree assault and a DWI. Bond was set at $7,000 cash or surety.
Subbert’s initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
