The Boonville City Council approved a couple of agreements regarding high-speed internet at city buildings and a service contract with the City of Prairie Home during its meeting on Monday, October 1.
According to the board packet, the board held discussions during prior meeting about the need for security cameras in high priority areas such as city buildings and parks. In order to install 35 security cameras, the city would have to overhaul its current internet system due to the need for more bandwidth or faster internet speed.
City Clerk Teresa Studley reads part of the agreement with Socket Telecom, LLC, to provide fiber-optic internet service for the city.

The cost of the service was $50,000 for the installation of fiber internet lines and security cameras with a $2,000 monthly charge.
In other business, Studley reads an agreement regarding building inspection services with the City of Prairie Home.

The agreement between the cities is good for two years.
