A Lee’s Summit resident who allegedly fled law enforcement after an attempted traffic stop in Cooper County on September 24 has been charged with a felony.
According to a probable-cause statement, the vehicle was stopped for reportedly traveling 105 miles per hour at the 100.6 mile marker on I-70. As the Highway Patrol trooper approached the vehicle, the driver sped away. The vehicle reportedly passed a tractor trailer on the right shoulder; slowed to change lanes, then passed the same tractor trailer in the median grass. The pursuit was stopped due to unsafe conditions. It was picked up by a Cooper County deputy on Monks Road, but he lost sight of the vehicle, which was eventually located by the Tipton Police Chief, and 26-year-old Holly R. Whited was taken into custody. A records check revealed Whited’s driver’s license to be revoked- with five prior convictions of Driving While Revoked or Suspended in the past 10 years.
Online court documents say a criminal summons has been issued, and Whited has been charged with a Class E Felonies for Resisting Arrest, Detention or Stop by Fleeing-Creating a Substantial Risk of Serious Injury or Death to any person and Driving While Revoked or Suspended; as well as a driving-related misdemeanor.
Whited’s arraignment hearing is set for 9 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
