During the meeting of the Marshall City Council on Monday, October 1, Municipal Services Director Bill Anderson asked the council to approve an ordinance directing the mayor to execute an agreement between the city and Engineering Surveys and Services, Inc., of Jefferson City, to provide engineering services for a mill and overlay project.
Anderson says the ordinance simply gives the city the authority to hire the firm to follow through with the grant funding that the city can get through MoDOT to do the project during the 2019 construction season.

The cost of the survey is $24,725. Anderson said it’s a pretty good deal, considering the city will get $237,000 to help pay for the project, which is estimated to cost about $490,000.
City Administrator David Haugland explained this is grant funding the city has gotten before.

The council approved the first reading of the ordinance to allow for possible input from the community before the second reading. The next council meeting is set for 6 p.m. on Monday, October 15.
