A Missouri historian is scheduled to be the featured speaker at the Boonslick Historical Society’s fall meeting at the J. Huston Tavern in Arrow Rock on Saturday, November 3.
According to a news release, Michael Dickey is scheduled to speak during his presentation titled “The Marmaduke Family of Missouri: A Family Divided”. The Marmadukes were one of the most influential families of Missouri in the years leading to the Civil War. Dickey is administrator of the Arrow Rock, Sappington Cemetery and Boone’s Lick State Historic Sites in Saline and Howard counties, a position he has held since 1986. He holds a bachelor’s degree in art history, from the University of Central Missouri.
The Boonslick Historical Society was founded in 1937 and meets several times a year to enjoy historical topics pertinent to the Boonslick area.
The public is invited to attend the meeting which begins with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner and Dickey’s presentation.
