A Boonville man is facing a felony charge for allegedly sending threatening text messages recently in Cooper County.
A probable-cause statement says a victim spoke with Boonville Police officers about receiving harassing text messages from 47-year-old Greg Wieberg on October 18. Wieberg reportedly sent a text which said “I’m at the point I’m going to fire on a uniformed officer of any law to martyr the cause.”
Wieberg reportedly was hospitalized for an involuntary commitment order for a mental health evaluation regarding another text message sent to a former acquaintance on October 5. Wieberg allegedly stated in that message he was on a “humanitarian mission” which would end in his death and also made references to the Columbine shooting incident.
Online court documents say Wieberg has been charged with a Class E Felony for Harassment in the First Degree. Bond was at $10,000 cash only.
Wieberg’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
