The Sedalia City Council approved a recommendation from the Citizens’ Traffic Advisory Commission regarding the improvement of traffic flow on South Washington Avenue during a special-session meeting on October 22.
According to a news release, the council approved the recommendation which will reopen South Washington Avenue, from East 4th and 5th Streets, to two-way traffic. Also, a four-way stop sign will be installed at the intersection of East 5th Street and South Washington Avenue. On October 30, the Street Department is scheduled to post signs to inform motorists passing through the area of the upcoming changes. The traffic changes are scheduled to begin in the morning hours of Sunday, November 11.
The removal of the traffic restriction in this block was a part of a review process started in August by the Traffic Advisory Commission which included input from local citizens.
Residents with questions regarding this project or other traffic changes are advised to call the Sedalia Public Works Department at (660) 827-3000 ext. 1166.
