A 19-year-old Sweet Springs resident who was charged with a sex-related felony involving a juvenile changed his plea to an amended charge on Monday, October 22.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities say that sometime in November 2017, Kurtis A.G. Walden went into a basement of a residence with a 13-year-old female, advised her to remove her clothing and proceeded to have sex with her.
Online court documents say Walden originally was charged with an Unclassified Felony for Statutory Rape or Attempted Statutory Rape with a Person Less Than 14 Years Old– Aggravated Sexual Offense.
During his most-recent court proceeding, Walden pleaded guilty to a Class C Felony for Child Molestation in the Third Degree- Child Less Than 14 Years of Age. His plea was accepted by the court as voluntary and found him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Missouri Board of Probation and Parole has been ordered to conduct an investigation and file a report with the court prior to the sentencing date.
Walden is scheduled to be sentenced at 1:15 p.m. on Monday, November 26, at Saline County Circuit Court.
