A Lexington man who allegedly assaulted an older gentleman outside a gas station on Saturday, October 20, has been charged with a felony.
According to a probable-cause statement, surveillance video reportedly showed the older man walked out of the BP gas station store in Lexington and got to his vehicle. He had words with another person in another vehicle, and then 22-year-old Zachary Hill walked around his vehicle with a glass bottle and struck the older gentleman across the head. The officer viewing the video says he saw the older man fall to the ground, and Hill kept punching him until several subjects separated the two. The older man suffered a bloody nose and forehead. Two witnesses reportedly said they saw Hill strike the older man with the bottle and also hit the older man as he fell to the ground.
Hill was arrested and has been charged with a Class D Felony for Assault in the Second Degree. Hill posted $15,000 surety bond on Wednesday, October 24.
Hill was arraigned and entered a plea of not guilty on Monday, October 22, at Lafayette County Circuit Court. No other information is available at this time.
