A Liberty man has been charged with felonies for allegedly stealing a vehicle in Kansas and then led law enforcement on a high-speed chase incident in Lafayette County.
A probable-cause statement says law enforcement contacted a vehicle which was reported as stolen earlier in the day on October 30. Missouri State troopers tried to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle at the intersection of Route Z and Brashears Road in Orrick, where the driver reportedly began to flee.
During the pursuit, the driver of alleged stolen vehicle reportedly accelerated up to 100 miles per hour on Route Z while maneuvering through traffic in an unsafe manner. The vehicle pursuit reportedly ended at the intersection of Sunshine Lake Road and Camden Road in Lafayette County, where a foot pursuit began as the suspect exited the vehicle, tried to run through a muddy soybean field and was shortly arrested.
Online court documents say 20-year-old Dominique Martin has been charged with a Class D Felony for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree and a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest by Fleeing- Creating a Substantial Risk of Serious Injury or Death to Any Person. Bond has been set at $35,000 cash or surety.
Martin entered a plea of not guilty during his arraignment hearing on November 1, and his cause has been continued with a case-hearing at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
