A Sedalia man has been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly assaulting, kidnapping and holding a gun to a woman’s head on October 30.
According to a probable-cause statement, during a dispute, 31-year-old Shaevon M. Collins became angry, allegedly grabbed the woman by her throat and began choking her. The woman said she was able to get away, but Collins punched her several times on both sides of her face. She said Collins choked her again, and this time she lost consciousness. It’s also alleged that Collins held a gun to the woman’s head and told her multiple times he would kill her as well as took her cell phone. Authorities say the victim had marks on her neck and her cheeks were swollen.
After talking to a witness, who reportedly backed up the victim’s story, authorities arrested Collins, who reportedly resisted arrest; and after being put in the patrol vehicle in handcuffs; kicked the windows, eventually breaking the window molding on the passenger’s side. He eventually had to placed in a wrap to help prevent him from hurting himself and the vehicle.
Online court documents say Collins has been charged with Class D Felonies for Domestic Assault in the Second Degree, Tampering with a Witness in a Felony Prosecution, Kidnapping in the Second Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; as well as a misdemeanor for property damage. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash or surety.
Collins was arraigned on Wednesday, October 31, and his cause has been continued for another hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
