The Higginsville Board of Aldermen recognized two utility employees for the years of service to each of their departments during its meeting on Monday, November 5.
According to a news release, the board recognized Electric Department Representative Marcus Russell and Water Department Representative George Schwarzer by giving each an award for their years of service.
Russell was recognized for his 10 years of service to the electric department. He began his employment as an Apprentice Lineman in October 2008 and was promoted to Journeyman Lineman in December 2012.
Schwarzer was recognized for his two decades of service to water department. He began as a Water Plant Operator 1 in October 1998 and has completed several years of training to become a valuable member of the department.
In other business, the board was informed about a two-percent surcharge the city will add to all credit or debit transactions as of Saturday, November 10, and the closing of City Hall in honor of Veterans’ Day on Monday, November 12.
