A Carrollton resident is facing a drug-related felony charge after authorities allegedly found two baggies of methamphetamine, several digital scales, some marijuana, rolling papers and other drug-related items at a residence in Carrollton, where they attempted to serve a warrant for probation violation out of Saline County on September 29.
According to a probable-cause statement, while trying to serve the warrant, authorities say they heard several individuals inside the house, and the door was answered by 20-year-old Matthew Cameron Charlton, who was the suspect. He was placed in handcuffs. Later, while Charlton was inside the residence, authorities say they observed the drug-related items in plain sight next to a chair in which Charlton said he was sleeping prior to their arrival.
Online court documents say Charlton has been charged with a Class C Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoid; and two drug-related misdemeanors. There is no mention of bond in the court documents.
Charlton, who is now 21, is scheduled to appear for a hearing at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, at Carroll County Circuit Court.
