Two Brooklyn, New York, residents are facing multiple counts of a felony charge after an incident in Higginsville on November 8.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities were dispatched to Casey’s General Store on Highway 13 Boulevard to investigate the report of suspicious activity. The two subjects reportedly went into the store and cycled through several credit cards until they found one that would work to make purchases of cigarettes and gift cards. Authorities say the cards were re-coded via the use of a card reader, and the subjects- 22-year-old Dahae Park and 21-year-old Turgot Solages Jr.- were taken into custody. Authorities further report the couple amassed a total of more than $19,000 in purchases of cigarettes and gift cards at various stops since leaving New York on November 5.
According to online court documents, Solages has been charged with six counts and Park five counts of a Class D Felony for Stealing and a Class D Felony for Forgery. Bond for Solages has been set at $75,000 and for Park at $25,000 cash or surety.
Solages entered a plea of not guilty, and his request for bond reduction was denied by the court during his arraignment hearing on Wednesday, November 14. His cause has been continued for another hearing at 9:30 a.m. on December 12 at Lafayette County Circuit Court. Park also was scheduled to be arraigned on November 14, but an update on her case is not available at this time.
