Due to the Saline County courthouse being closed on Monday, November 26, because of inclement weather, the sentencing hearing for a Sweet Springs resident was postponed.
Kurtis A.G. Walden, who pleaded guilty to an amended sex-related felony charge involving a juvenile on October 22, now is due to be sentenced on Thursday, November 29.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities say that sometime in November 2017, Walden went into a basement of a residence with a 13-year-old female, advised her to remove her clothing and proceeded to have sex with her.
Online court documents say Walden originally was charged with an Unclassified Felony for Statutory Rape or Attempted Statutory Rape with a Person Less Than 14 Years Old– Aggravated Sexual Offense.
During his most-recent court proceeding, Walden pleaded guilty to a Class C Felony for Child Molestation in the Third Degree- Child Less Than 14 Years of Age.
Walden’s hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
