A Kansas City man was sentenced to spend almost four decades in state prison after pleading guilty during a recent hearing for the murder of a Windsor man last year in Pettis County.
According to online court documents, 31-year-old Ronald Cage was charged with Class A Felonies for Murder in the Second Degree and First-Degree Robbery; an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action and a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
According to a news release, law enforcement determined Cage was one of two suspects involved in the murder of Leon Hinkley in Pettis County on August 17, 2017. Pettis County Sheriff’s deputies located Hinckley with multiple gunshot wounds at Sunset Village Trailer Park, just west of the Sedalia city limits.
Online court documents also say Cage plead guilty to the felony charges during a hearing in September 2018. On Friday, December 21, Cage was sentenced by the Pettis County court to spend 25 years for the murder charge and nine years for the robbery charge, which are to run consecutive to each other. Also, Cage was sentenced to spend 30 years for the criminal action charge and seven years for the unlawful firearm possession charge, as both will run concurrent with the other sentences. Cage was then remanded into the custody of the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office for delivery to the Missouri Department of Corrections to serve at least 34 years.
The second suspect in the murder case, 25-year-old Branden Hendren Hendren, of Kansas City, was sentenced to spend a total of 42 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections on November 30, 2018. Reportedly, Hendren faces murder charges from a separate case in Jackson County for an alleged shooting incident in Kansas City on July 21, 2017.
