The Fayette R-3 School Board is considering the possibility of the district’s schools going to a four-day week.
According to minutes from its meeting on Wednesday, December 19, Superintendent Dr. Tamara Kimball said she met with staff the week prior to share four-day-school-week information and survey results, as well as answer questions. Two draft calendars were shared, one with 13 additional minutes and the other with 25 additional minutes to each day.
Residents of the district will have their chances to gather information and ask questions during community forums scheduled to be held on Tuesday, January 8, in the Fayette High School library and on Thursday, January 10, at the Armstrong Community Center. Specific times for the forums have not been released.
Minutes say the board will reconvene after the forums to review and make a decision.
In other news during Dr. Kimball’s report, she said the district has started a new plan with Glasgow and Higbee Schools to share the cost of transporting students to the Moberly Area Technical Center, and a permanent driver for the route has been found.
In an action taken, the board approved a recommendation to move a stop for “Bus E” from Highway 3 to County Road 217, with the stipulation that the parents maintain the tree limbs to insure no damage occurs to the bus while traveling on the gravel road.
