A warrant has been requested, and a Smithton resident has been charged with a felony for allegedly stealing a scanning device belonging to a Walmart employee.
A probable-cause statement says a Walmart employee reported her portable scanning device was missing on December 19. The asset-protection employee viewed surveillance video from the time frame and noted a white male was looking through the cart where the scanning device had been placed and then put the device in his pocket and eventually left the store with it. The device is valued at more than $1,500.
Online court documents say 27-year-old Radu Ciobanu- whom law enforcement has not been able to locate- has been charged with a Class D Felony for Stealing of $750 or More.
An initial hearing for Ciobanu is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
