A Henrietta man has been charged with a felony for allegedly stealing from his former employer on Christmas Eve in Ray County.
According to a probable-cause statement, Henrietta Police officers responded to the U.S. Granules Corporation for a reported burglary on December 26. Officers viewed video surveillance which reportedly showed 40-year-old Jeremy Hewitt drive up to the business and enter the building at 7:30 p.m. on December 24.
Hewitt reportedly was seen removing large containers of water, multiple fire extinguishers, and a coat he did not enter the building with, as well ate and drank items from the company refrigerator. Ray County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly arrested Hewitt in Richmond on December 26.
Online court documents say Hewitt has been charged with a Class D Felony for Second-Degree Burglary and a misdemeanor for stealing. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash only.
Hewitt is scheduled to appear for an arraignment hearing at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 31, at Ray County Circuit Court.
