A Bates City man suffered minor injuries in a traffic crash in Lafayette County on Wednesday.
A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as 50-year-old Joseph Courtway reportedly told authorities he passed out while eating. His eastbound vehicle traveled across the center line and the off the left side of the roadway, across a private driveway, continued into a wooded area and struck a metal culvert pipe not installed underground.
Courtway reportedly was transported by Sni Valley E.M.S. to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence for treatment.
The crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. on Golden Belt Road, east of Royal Road.
