The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of a phone scam currently circulating the area.
According to a news release, the department has received numerous reports from residents getting unsolicited calls from someone called “Captain Keller”. The scammer states a warrant has been issued for the failure to pay taxes or other issue, and pressures for a payment to avoid being arrested. If called back, the scammers answer by saying “Sheriff’s Department”.
The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating this scam and advises residents not be drawn in by calls like.
