A Gilliam man facing a felony for an alleged assault earlier this month is scheduled to appear for a court proceeding this week in Saline County.
A probable-cause statement says Saline County deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in progress at a residence in Gilliam on January 1.
Upon arrival, deputies detained 27-year-old Jeremy Smith who was noticed to have blood on his hands and shirt. Authorities spoke with a victim who stated Smith allegedly broke items at the residence by throwing and punching them, as well as kicked and punched the walls. Also, Smith reportedly grabbed a muzzle-loading rife which caused a physical confrontation with a victim who sustained an injury.
Online court documents say Smith has been charged with a Class E Felony for Third-Degree Domestic Assault. Bond was set at $7,500 cash only.
Smith was formally arraigned on January 3, and his caused was continued for a counsel-status hearing at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, at Saline County Circuit Court.
