A Bates City man suffered serious injuries in a traffic accident in Jackson County on Tuesday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as 80-year-old Donald White was retrieving a lost load from a vehicle in the median, and he reportedly was struck by an eastbound 2012 Volvo Tractor, driven by 35-year-old Alexander Guenther, of Rockingham, Virginia, when he entered the roadway.
White reportedly was transported by Sni Valley Fire to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence for treatment. Guenther reportedly was not injured.
The accident happened at 12:50 p.m. at the 29.2 mile marker on I-70.
