An area school board considered the possibility of the district changing to a four-day school week during its meeting on Wednesday, January 16.
According to minutes from the meeting of the Fayette R-3 School Board, information and survey results were shared on the 4-day, school-week proposal. Discussion reportedly took place, and one board member motioned to delay a decision to a future meeting. However, that motion lacked a second, and discussion continued.
A motion was made by another board member for the district to go a 4-day week beginning with the 2019-20 school year. It was seconded, but the motion failed by a 3-2 margin.
In other news, the board voted to put a 72-cent increase to the operating tax levy on the ballot in the April election; and approved the acceptance of a $4,000 Fayette Area Common Fund grant for the PAT Imagination Library; a $4,949.78 Daly Elementary School grant to Century Link Teachers and Technology for “Chromebooks in the Classroom”; and the addition of Christine Fuhlage to the FFA Advisory Board.
