Marshall Ward 3 Councilman Dan Brandt said some grants are available for the city to upgrade some equipment.
During the meeting of the city council on Tuesday, January 22, Brandt explained the city could get some good deals through some Region F Solid-Waste Grants.
Brandt also said a 50/50 grant for a new snow plow is available. The $160,000 piece of equipment would cost the city $80,000. Brandt said he feels good about the Region F Grants. But if the city were to apply for and get all three, it would be getting $430,000 worth of equipment for about $120,000.
Ward 1 Councilman Dewey Hendrix said the city has a bit of time to make a decision.
The council decided to do some number crunching and table a decision until a future meeting.
In other news, Brandt reported the city has received its new trash truck. He said it should be in service sometime next week. It replaces a 1999 International, which the council authorized the city to put out for bid to sell.
