In November, voters passed a three-quarters-of-a-cent sales-tax measure in order to build and maintain a new aquatic center in Carrollton.
City Administrative Assistant Terry Bell said the Town Council hired Water’s Edge Aquatic Design, LLC, of Lenexa, Kansas, as the engineer for the project during its meeting on Tuesday, January 22.
Bell said there will be some town-hall meetings in the near future to discuss with town residents what is planned. She said the meetings will be after the city receives the results of the soil samples.
In other news, Bell said the council approved a contract to hire Smi-Co to repair the Greens Addition lift station and discussed maintenance of a Girl Scout cabin, which she said has been empty for quite some time.
Bell said the building is on city property, and probably is owned by the city. She said it’s just a paperwork thing; and this will allow the scout leader to get insurance for it. Bell said the Building Trades Class at the school is going to help do some of the needed repairs.
