An area fire department battled a blaze at a highway department building for almost two hours in Lafayette County on Wednesday, January 23.
Concordia Fire Chief Jeff Frerking said his department responded to the building located north of the city around 10:30 p.m.
Frerking said no one was injured, but highway department workers on the scene had an idea of what caused the fire.
Frerking said the fire department stayed on the scene until 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, and said even though the fire caused some damage to the building; it can still be utilized by the highway department. Total cost in damages has not yet been determined.
