A Marshall man who has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of 31-year-old Joshua Charles Smith on December 29, 2018, in Marshall is back in jail on a violation of a condition of his bond.
According to a news release, Marshall Police officers arrived on the scene at a residence on Viking Lane and found Smith had sustained injuries from an apparent gunshot wound. Smith was transported by ambulance to Fitzgibbon Hospital for treatment, and he later was pronounced deceased.
According to online court documents, 55-year-old James Scott Miller has been charged with a Class A Felony for Second-Degree Murder and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Miller paid his $500,000 cash-only bond on January 2. A warrant was issued for Miller for the bond-condition violation on January 23.
Miller’s next hearing is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, at Saline County Circuit Court.
