The MMU Board of Public Works approved the implementation of increased internet speeds at no extra cost to customers during its meeting on Thursday, January 31.
Administrative Services Director Ken Gieringer said internet speeds for customers will increase without having to pay extra. Gieringer added due to having additional internet capacity, customers may see an increase in download speeds sometime in February.
Gieringer said an increase of five Mbps (megabytes per second) is scheduled for basic-tier customers; a 15 Mbps increase for middle-tier customers; and a 50 Mpbs increase for top-tier customers.
Gieringer again said the increase in internet speeds will not affect the current billing rates for customers.
