Two persons have been charged with felonies after a traffic stop on I-70 in Saline County on January 30.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities found out the vehicle- being driven by Tabitha Perfater, of Princeton, was reported as stolen out of Kansas City, Kansas. During a search of the vehicle, authorities also say they found a pistol and an extra ammunition magazine; a small amount of marijuana; a baggie containing a white crystal substance; a scale; and several syringes. They also say they found brass knuckles in the pants pocket of the passenger in the vehicle- 45-year-old Carl Dewey Williams, of Harrisonville- who they say gave a false name when being questioned and booked at the Saline County Jail, where he also signed documents using the false name.
Online court documents say Perfater has been charged with Class D Felonies for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; and Williams has been charged with Class D Felonies for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Forgery. Each also has been charged with a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond for Williams has been set at $15,000 cash only and for Perfater at $10,000 cash or surety.
An initial hearing for each is pending at Saline County Circuit Court.
