What started out as a medical call at Brady Campgrounds near the Highway 179 exit on I-70 quickly turned into a criminal investigation on Tuesday, February 5. By the end of the investigation, a 58-year-old Boonville man was arrested and is facing multiple felony charges.
According to a post on the Cooper County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page, medics were dispatched to a report of a 47-year-old female who reportedly was injured from a fall. But a law-enforcement officer soon realized there was more to the story.
Multiple law-enforcement officers executed a search warrant for the camper at the location; and authorities reportedly seized narcotics, drug paraphernalia, a firearm and ammunition. Robert Warren Roberts (left) was arrested.
According to online court documents, a warrant has been issued and Roberts has been charged with a Class A Felony for First-Degree Kidnapping; a Class B Felony for First-Degree Domestic Assault; Class D Felonies for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon; and Unclassified Felonies for Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy in the First Degree and Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been set at $250,000 cash or surety.
An initial hearing for Roberts is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
