A Fayette man who allegedly assaulted a woman and two youths last week has been charged with multiple felonies in Howard County.
According to a probable-cause statement, authorities reported to a residence on Highway 124 in Fayette to investigate the report of the alleged assault at midnight on Thursday, February 14.
The woman alleged to authorities she was assaulted and choked more than once by Norman Lee Watkins. Also during the incident, she said Watkins attacked her 11- and 13-year-old children. Watkins also reportedly attempted to choke at least one of the kids. Authorities noted damage to the residence and some injuries to the alleged victims. Watkins, who fled the scene prior to the arrival of authorities, eventually was arrested.
Online court documents say a warrant has been issued, and Watkins has been charged with two counts of a Class D Felony for Endangering the Welfare of a Child-Creating a Substantial Risk- in the First Degree; and another Class D Felony for Second-Degree Domestic Assault. Bond has been set at $30,000 cash only.
Watkins’ initial hearing is pending at Howard County Circuit Court.
