A hospital in Sweet Springs will be closed for the next three months.
A release on the I-70 Community Hospital’s website reads: “This is to serve as official notice that the I-70 Community Hospital Board of Directors has informed the Missouri Hospital Authority that it will enter into a period of voluntary temporary suspension of services, effective February 15, 2019, at 7 p.m. This suspension will last no longer than 90 days, during which time the hospital will implement measures to address noted areas of concern, which are needed for us to reopen and deliver the highest quality of care to our community.”
The post continues: “On a daily basis, our hospital faces the same external and internal challenges that are no different from the ones that adversely affect all rural- and critical-access hospitals across the country. However, despite all of this, and with the support of our community, we are committed to doing all that is necessary to ensure the longterm sustainability of I-70 Community Hospital.”
Medical records requests will be processed during this time. To obtain your medical records, you need to call (660) 335-4700.
According to Missourinet, the 15-bed hospital reportedly was connected to a company head who used hospitals in a lab-billing scheme. The Missouri Department of Health says the hospital is out of compliance with regulations.
