During her report at the meeting of the Sweet Springs R-7 School Board on Thursday, February 14, Superintendent Lori Price gave an update regarding makeup days for the district.
According to a release from the district, Price said according to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), school districts must make up days missed for inclement weather up to seven days. Once at seven days, the district must make up one day for every two days missed for up to 14 days. So, days one through seven, and days nine, 11 and 13 would need to be made up; and days eight, 10, 12, 14- and days beyond day 14- would be forgiven.
As of the date of board meeting, the district had missed nine days; but, only eight of those days need to be made up. One day was made up on January 21; and another was made up on February 18. The remaining makeup dates are scheduled for April 22 and 23 and May 20, 21, 22 and 23.
In other news, Price said the district’s Annual Performance Report (APR) was released to the public by DESE on February 1. The APR looks at five areas: academic achievement, subgroup achievement, college and career readiness, attendance and graduation rate. The district received an APR percentage of 93.9 percent, up 3.9 percent from the previous year.
