The administration at Marshall Public Schools has made the decision to cancel elementary-level summer school classes for this year and the next.
According to a release from Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher, the decision was made for this year due to the required make-up days needed because of inclement weather earlier this school year. Due to this, summer school would have to begin after June 15th and the end would be scheduled sometime after July 4th.
For the cancellation of Summer 2020 classes, the moving of kindergartners and first graders to the new addition on the Spainhower campus, creating the Marshall Primary School, will necessitate work over the bulk of the summer months in 2020.
However, high school credit recovery classes, plus electives for students desiring them during the summer, will be available both summers at Marshall High School. During the summer of 2020, it is hoped (but not yet determined) to add a driver’s education course to the offerings. Confirmation or cancellation of this offering will take place sometime early in the second semester of 2020.
